I don’t pay much attention to polls nowadays. Polls are not much use because Americans lie so much. Since Donald Trump was elected, we have raised lying to an art form. We lie about everything from whether or not we are being true to our diet to our golf handicaps. Sometimes, we lie for no reason at all, just to make a conversation more interesting. As I’ve said before, Donald Trump is not the cause of this but the symptom of it. It’s no wonder we have a president who lies and cheats on a daily basis when we have become that ourselves.
Although polls have little value as to the issues the polls are addressing, you can draw certain inferences from them. For example, in the wake of the vicious, racist attacks by the president on four of the Democratic women of color now serving in the House of Representatives; a Huffington Post poll was conducted asking a sample of the American public if Donald Trump was a racist. I found the results to be utterly laughable. It found, for example that 90% of the people who admit to voting for Trump don’t believe he is racist. Of course they don’t! To say Trump is a racist would require that they themselves admit to being racist. In a nation of liars who live in a country that professes to value equal opportunities for all its citizens regardless of race, how in the world would anyone expect a republican respondent to answer truthfully? What we do as Americans is rationalize that since we don’t activity attempt to deny equal rights to minorities of color we are not racist, even though we are willing to tolerate it from those in leadership positions for a “higher purpose”. On a certain level, we know we are lying to ourselves about ourselves, but because we are kind to animals and don’t use racial slurs in our own vocabularies, we console ourselves into believing on that basis that we can’t possibly be racist.
If you talked to the Republicans who responded in that poll, they will tell you that Donald Trump is only trying to protect the integrity of our country by securing our borders. He does it very crudely because he is not an experienced politician and does not know how to express his views on those kinds of issues tactfully. But is that really so? The reasons for the excessive migration to the US from Central America are clear. They are as follows:
- The tremendous market for illegal drugs in the United States.
- The fact the we deported hundreds of Central American gang members serving prison time in the US because they were unmanageable as prisoners, to the impoverished Third World Countries they came from, with no aid or assistance for those countries to incarcerate them there. The officials of those countries had neither the budget nor the professional knowhow to deal with professional criminals on that scale. They quickly became out gunned and out manned.
- Now that organized criminal barbarians have completely taken over those countries, we have withdrawn the meager aid we were sending to the few who had the courage to fight them, leaving those countries totally at the mercy of the criminals.
My question to the Republicans is this: Have you ever heard the Trump Administration say one word to address any of those issues? The answer of course is no. The real estate hustler has only insisted we build a worthless wall on the border. Never mind that as a country for decades we have raped Central American countries of their natural recourses for little or nothing and sold the processed products of those recourses back to them for 100 what they would cost if they were processed in their own countries, virtually guaranteeing perpetual poverty for them. As far as Trump the real estate hustler is concerned, we got our money. The rest of it is their problem. We don’t owe them a thing. For the sake of all those Christian Republicans who support Trump, I hope they are wrong about there being a heaven and hell. If they’re right, given their complicity in the human tragedy resulting from our country’s attitudes and actions regarding it, there is probably a special corner of hell waiting for them when they leave this Earth.
The other thing the poll found was that somewhere from 50 to 35 percent of Americans in general do believe Trump is racist. The value of that statistic to me is that it verifies the demographics I’ve been stating in many of my previous posts. That 50% I’m sure represents white Democrats and the ten or 15% of minority votes that will actually be counted in our rigged, gerrymandered system. In other words, if the election were held to today, Trump would win! This is why the Democrats, including the so called “squad” that Trump attacked in his North Carolina speech, must understand that politics like stock securities, is a long term investment. Just as you rarely can get rich over night buying and selling stocks, you can’t undo decades of policies that have turned out to be counter productive to the American people as a whole, overnight with one election. If that were possible today, as I’ve said previously, you would see a ground swell of new voter registrants, not just in blue states, but in the deep red states of the old confederacy. So far, no presidential candidate has shown himself/herself to garner that kind of mass appeal that Obama did. What that tells you is that you must moderate your appeal to accommodate that ten or fifteen percent of Republicans that are as feed up with Trump as you are. You can only do that by talking about real solutions to the issues that appeal to the BRADs I talked about in previous posts (see Chapter 72). For example, I suggested that the American military partnership with Central American governments to establish American military bases in those countries for the purpose of rooting out and destroying the Central and South American gangs once and for all, along with legalizing all drugs in America and establishing enough treatment centers and job training programs to cure every addict that wants to be cured. I understand that the social and environmental catastrophes that the Republican establishment has set the next generation up for demands immediate attention to be solved, but you first must get elected in large enough quantities to even begin to effectively take the issues on. You must be pragmatic and stay focused on one issue at a time. Start with the military suggestion I made for Central America. BRAD loves the military. Stop letting Trump dominate the news cycle and set your agenda, which up until now consists mostly of what all Americans, whether they admit it or not, already know – Trump is a terrible person.
