It’s becoming clear to me, when I see and read about mass murder committed by white nationalists at home and abroad along with the mass murders committed by Islamic fundamentalist extremists of various kinds, a steady stream of racially divisive rhetoric coming from the White House and the unrelenting assault on the environment financed by the oligarchs of the world like Dmitry Rybolovlev of Russia and the Koch brothers here in the United States, that if the current trends are not reversed, we may be witnessing the beginning of the end of the human race. Here and in all the other places in the world where democracy is still alive (Europe, Australia and elsewhere), the choice in future elections in reality will not be between various political parties or economic strategies, but between life and death of the human race. We are reaching the point to where when we consider a candidate for any political office; we need to first ask ourselves, “Is this candidate and his/her party going to lead humanity towards death or life?” It’s that serious.
I say this because with each passing day, it’s looking more and more like here in America, society is moving towards replacing our democracy with some form of oligarchy, similar to what currently exists in Russia. The significance of this trend is that democracy is the only form of government that allows the common man/woman to remain invested in the welfare of society. Without it, the fate of the world is left to the whims and fancy of a few individuals, many of whom are perverted psychopaths, while the common people are mere fodder for the tyrants personal needs and desires. With every election, we cede more and more power to the billionaire class. This is happening because we have been convinced of one thing. We seem to be convinced that the most important thing in the world is money. Money, (not integrity, justice, liberty, values or a healthy environment to live in), is becoming the arbiter of all human affairs in America. If you are accused of a crime in America, it will not be the facts, or whether or not you actually committed the crime that will determine your guilt or innocence, no sir. How much money you have to leverage against the legal system will determine your guilt or innocence.
We got to this point because the super wealthy have used their vast wealth to purchase electronic media and almost every politician in the country to foment the division of our society along racial, gender, ethnic and national origin lines. They study our every mood and psychological tendency with their electronic social media to gain access to our minds so they can fill our heads with hours of diversionary nonsense to keep us distracted while they steal everything we have, especially our personal dignity. Now that they have us fighting amongst ourselves, they are having their way with us in every meaningful aspect of our lives. They understand that once you convince a people to give up the culture and the ethics and the morality that has truly made them great, they won’t have the will to resist any atrocity the elite decide to commit on them. You can poison their air, food and water (as long as you package the poison in pretty containers), and the people won’t even ask questions like, why in 1950 only one in 100 hundred people died of cancer every year in America (most of lung cancer from cigarette smoking) and today, one in seven people die of some form of cancer. Cancer has become pandemic in the United States and yet most people hardly notice. If you were to ask the oligarchs, they would tell you that the reason is because in the 1950s, all of America was completely dominated by white people and as of the last time I checked, 30% of all white people in America would believe them, hands down. They have turned us all into narcissus, completely preoccupied with what our neighbors think about how we look, what we wear and what we drive, to notice that they have destroyed our educational system to the point where we have become a nation of superficial idiots who care more about what the local basketball or football team is doing than we do about who is in charge of the integrity of our food, water and environment. The current president of the United States is not so much our leader as he is a caricature of what we have become, how little we expect of ourselves and how greedy and self centered we are as we worship the almighty dollar, often in the name of Jesus.
George Orwell predicted what the world would be like if the oligarchs ever took over and how they would use electronic media in the form of two way TV sets to maintain absolute control of our behavior. But what he could have never imagined is that we would not only voluntarily give them that power but also pay them a substantial portion of our income to take that power to control our minds and behavior. When you consider the programing of TV and movies and Alexia and I-phones and all the electronic devices that dominate our lives, it becomes clear that collectively, all those devices are designed to convey one common message. That message is that only the products and services they provide will make us truly happy. The only way to be happy is to get more money to buy more of their useless and defective goods and services, leaving us all clamoring to be millionaires or billionaires. Collectively, we are victims of the classic bait and switch scam. In this case we were promised wealth and prosperity if we gave up our attachment to love of family and community, and what we got was loss of security, freedom and self-respect. Our society is crumbling in a pile of opioid addiction, broken dreams and living on the edge of economic catastrophe. All that’s left is the formal abdication of our freedom with the re-election of our first dictator in 2020. What should be clear to Democrats and Republicans about the Trump administration is that it has thumbed its nose at the law and due process. If elected for a second term, we will be giving him permission to fill our courts and government institutions with people loyal to him and him alone. Then you will see all voices in the least bit critical of the administration quietly and steadily silenced, as though garroted by a stealthy assassin. The new age of worldwide totalitarianism will have officially begun.
I know there are people out there that would argue that a dictatorship is only a problem if the dictator wants something other than what the people want. What those people haven’t considered is that the dictator is an individual. Just as what you perceive to be wanted and needed changes almost on a daily basis, so do those of the dictator. It’s unlikely that at any given time, the dictator’s interests are congruent with those of the majority of the people. The people must want what the dictator wants to keep harmony. Under a dictatorship, the government’s purpose is to serve the dictator, not the people. There is also the fact that dictators can be irrational and psychotic in their behavior and may act in ways that trigger a nuclear holocaust or worldwide biochemical warfare. The dictator oligarchs believe they will be for the most part insulated from the ensuing lethal conditions safely in their opulent underground shelters, capable of living months to years under ground. Of course, they haven’t considered that under those conditions, the only people with real power will be the people with the guns who they’ve hired to protect them. There’s no way to predict the mayhem that would ensue if human beings born to live in the sun were suddenly forced to live underground for an extended period of time. My point is, enough people above and below ground could die to trigger the extinction of humankind.
I have been made aware of many of the concerns of the political right that elected Donald Trump since his election. Some I think are legitimate, most I think are not. I do know that all Americans want to be able to achieve quality care for the illnesses and injuries visited upon them without bankrupting their family. I know we all want a clean non-poisonous environment where water is safe to drink and food is safe to eat and I know we all want to live in a world where if we contribute to society through employment that is producing needed goods and services for society, we can sustain ourselves and at least two children in affordable housing. I know we all want to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure. Clearly, the country is deeply divided on a myriad of other issues. However, if we begin with the things that we all agree on, that will take us a long way towards ending the chaos that threatens end our country and possibly the entire human race. I suggest when you vote in the 2020 elections; you first consider where the candidate stands on the things we all agree on. If you decide they will effectively support those issues, they deserve your consideration whether they are Democrat or Republican. The one thing we all have to agree on is that we cannot have order and harmony in government with Donald Trump as president. If his supporters wanted to shake up the status quo, mission accomplished. But if you want to return to something that resembles normalcy, he has to go. If not, you can kiss democracy, the United States and possibly the entire human race goodbye.
